We bid a sad farewell to the legendary guitarist Johnny Winter, who has died, aged 70, while on tour in Zurich, Switzerland.

The man who has delivered his high-energy mix of rock ‘n’ roll and blues since the 60s hailed from Beaumont, Texas and featured at Woodstock, then released a string of superb albums, before turning to the blues when signing to Blue Sky in the late 70s, and also featured on some classic Muddy Water albums of the time.

Through the 80s he released a string of acclaimed albums on the Alligator Label and also recording for Point Blank.
