Gigs: Simon McBride – October dates announced

Posted on: Saturday, Sep 27, 2014

Internationally acclaimed blues-rock hero Simon McBride is back on tour in October and offering audiences a unique chance to win a PRS Guitar at his Autumn shows.

The young Belfast gunslinger is widely regarded as one of the best blues-rock guitarists in the world and tipped to follow Rory Gallagher and Gary Moore into the lexicon of Irish rock guitarists. As an endorsee of the highly regarded PRS guitar range (along with Al Di Meola, Carlos Santana, Dave Navarro, and Orianthi), McBride is giving fans the opportunity to bag one for themselves at a handful of UK shows. To enter the prize for the guitar, fans just need to pick up an entry slip at one of the shows.

Having toured recently with the rock elite including Jeff Beck, Joe Bonamassa, Jonny Lang and members of Deep Purple, the former Young Guitarist of the Year will be igniting audiences on this UK jaunt with tunes from his well-received “Crossing the Line” record and classics.

At 15, McBride won Guitarist Magazine’s Young Guitarist of The Year, a performance competition at London’s iconic Wembley. By 16 he had turned professional and then toured the world with various artists including Grammy-nominated soulman Andrew Strong, all the time gaining experience in readiness for a solo career. He has released three albums, the most recent “Crossing The Line” is a fiery amalgam of guitar skills, songcraft and character-soaked vocals that gained four and five star reviews across the board.

Earlier this year he appeared as a special guest on Deep Purple keyboardist, Don Airey’s latest album, playing incendiary guitar on pieces written by Airey.

McBride has supported Joe Bonamassa and Jeff Beck, toured nationwide with Joe Satriani, and most recently appeared with the American singer/guitarist Jonny Lang At the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire.
