Review for THE BOOZIE WOOZIE BAND @ BJ’s ‘Rock in the Blues’ Club, The Minstrel, Chorley – 26.02.15 –

Another interesting Thursday evening at BJ’s ‘Rock in the Blues’ Club, The Minstrel, Chorley, with the Boozie Woozie Band, who are a collective of musicians based in the northwest, who enjoy playing their own brand of boogie blues and rock ‘n roll. Fronting the band on keys and vocals was the entertainer Andy Stones, with Paul Kistner on authentic 50/60’s guitar, Horace Dogson on double and electric bass and Alan Taylor on drums.

Playing a diverse mix of rock ‘n roll classics including numbers from Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley, they also added a touch of Credence Clearwater Revival and some great Ray Charles numbers. With Andy playing mean boogie blues on keys and with the addition of Paul, taking us back in time, with his class guitar playing in the old rockin’ style, the sound was great, topped off with Horace on the double bass, we were in for a cracking evening and that’s just what we got. The Boozie Woozie Band certainly take ‘entertainment’ seriously and gave a fabulous performance with the addition of great humour.

There was certainly ‘A Whole Lotta Shaking Going On’ and the band finished off the evening with a well deserved encore of ‘Rock Around The Clock’. I’m sure we will see them back for a retake next year!!
