News of forthcoming gigs from Pete Evans and the guys . . .
Debbie Bond and The TruDats: Friday, 26th June
Debbie and her band from Tuscaloosa in Alabama are opening up their extensive UK gig and Festival tour with us on what promises to be a great night of soulful blues straight from the Alabama woods.
Debbie was for years guitarist for the late Willie King, the legendary bluesman from Alabama and is joined by her husband, English born “Radiator” Rick Asherson on keys and harmonica and Mickey Barker on drums.
We saw Debbie and Rick playing with Willie King in Arkansas and they were fantastic and we are thrilled that we have been able to get them to play for us.
Tickets are £15- with the gig at Worthenbury.
The next is gig is on Saturday, July 18th when amazing, powerful, driving trio, Moreland & Arbuckle make a welcome return after their superb gig last year. Having played at all the major American clubs and festivals, they have now started to win over the UK and Europe. Think along the lines of ZZ Top playing blues with a harmonica player in their line-up.
This gig is to take place in Overton Village Hall and the charge is also £15.
Possible support act The Black Oil Brothers have now shelved their UK tour to possibly the autumn.
Finally, on Friday August 28th, we are absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to present again the amazing 83 year old blues guitarist from Mississippi Leo “Bud” Welch. He played for us last year in one of only two UK dates on his first ever visit and now he’s back for a six date tour.
He is a throwback to the old days of the Mississippi Delta and it’s all the more remarkable to think that he was only discovered just over two years ago having played gospel music in his church for 50 years. Seeing him play is like being in a time warp, so authentic is his performance and this may be the very last chance that we get to experience the REAL blues in its purest form.
He mesmerised us on his performance last September so join us again in Worthenbury for another great night.
This is also a £15 show.
