Last week’s Raven ‘n’ Blues podcast featured an interview and live performance by the fabulous Ian Siegal.
As ever with Dave Raven’s shows, he records an inteview of about 45-60 mins then edits a 20min portion into the final show. Both files are always available for download or listening online.
You can hear he whole interview at http://www.bfbs2.com/rnb.html - simply click Ian’s name for the MP3
The final broadcast show featuring the segment on Ian along with tunes from Sue Foley, Diamond Dave & the Doodaddies and Grayson Capps amongst others is available at http://www.bfbs2.com/listen/rnb.html
I first heard of Blind Pig records when I bought my first Walter Horton CD. Here’s a good short article about the history of Bling Pig Records followed by a BluePower podcast.

The excellent podcast Raven ‘n’ Blues this week features a live session with Doug MacLeod. Like with many other of his guests, Dave Raven has uploaded the whole conversation that he had with Doug. A subset of the session will be part of the regular radio show at the weekend.
So here’s what you should do…..
1. Pop over to the MP3 podcast page on the Raven ‘n’ Blues LibSyn site and download the full version – or you can listen online.
2. Listen regularly to the full radio show – it’s available on the same link as above.
If anyone needs a bit of technical assistance in how to download, subscribe and listen to podcasts then give me a shout.

Last week’s Raven and the Blues podcast started with a bouncy, retro, shuffly little tune from a band that I had not heard of before. The Lazy Jumpers from Spain (I’m not exactly sure where – I remember it was the lovely East coast).
Lo and behold they are over here on tour – if you are within striking distance go and check them out.
They have a website, a MySpace and some YouTube presence.

This week’s Raven ‘n’ Blues broadcast and podcast featured Derrin Nauendorf.
The way that Dave Raven organises his shows is that he records about an hour of chat and music of his featured guest then edits this down to about 15 mins in the final show.
You can download the hour long Derrin Nauendorf interview from here or the regular show (including Derrin, Bob Margolin, Dr. John, Ian Parker, BB King and others) from here.

The playlist for the latest Bandana Blues podcast – Show 171 – looks very harp orientated this week, especially Spinner’s Section. I haven’t downloaded it yet but the show kicks off with the super hot, dynamite and rocking Jason Ricci and New Blood – the guy who is taking the harmonica community by storm. In balance to all this modern frippery Spinner’s Section consists of the following…..
George Smith: California blues (1956) (oopin’ doopin’ doopin’, Ace, 1982)
Sonny Boy Williamson: cross my heart (Down And Out Blues, Chess, 1959)
Walter ‘Shakey’ Horton: good moanin’ blues (The Soul Of Blues Harmonica, Chess, 1964)
Little Walter: just your fool (Boss Blues Harmonica, Chess, 1972)
Junior Parker: blue shadows falling (You Don’t Have To Be Black To Love The Blues, Groove Merchant, 1974)
You can read all about Beardo and Spinner at www.bandanablues.com.
There is an excellent interview and live songs from Dave Kelly on the excellent Podcast Raven’n'Blues. Dave joined Dave on the top deck of the houseboat in the Thames for about an hour of conversation and live acoustic songs. The session will be edited down to a shorter segment in the main show that will get posted at the weekend. You can download all the MP3s from the RnB Libsyn site or this link will take you straight to the Dave Kelly MP3.
I highly recommend Raven’n'Blues it’s a great weekly programme – if you are debating whether to enter the digital age and buy an MP3 player for Christmas then I heartily recommend that decision and heartily recommend this radio programme.
Remember, podcasts are not just for your iPod you can play them on your computer.
