Mud Morganfield
Overton on Dee Village Hall
Friday 20 March 2009
This is probably the only chance that blues fans in the north will get to see Mud Morganfield as the other 5 dates of the tour are all in the south.
When the bluesinthenorthwest.com gang were in Arkansas last October we were sat next to ex Muddy Waters’ guitarist Bob Margolin as he was being interviewed by a Swiss blues journalist and he was stating that he could not believe how uncannily Mud was like his father not only in appearance but also in his singing voice. This has been backed up by the various You Tube releases.
Mud is being backed by Big Joe Louis and His Blues Kings arguably the most authentic and experienced blues band in the UK comprising Big Joe Louis on guitar, Pete Wingfield on piano, “West” Weston on harp, Matt Radford on double bass and Pete Greatorex on drums.
Supporting the band will be Tommy Allen and Johny Hewitt with their increasingly popular acoustic set.
Overton-on-Dee is stuated about 5miles south west of Wrexham and the venue is a superb old hall with a big stage, stage lighting, licensed bar with real ales and a large car park. The capacity is 220 and the tickets @ £15 are going rapidly so please ring me on 01948 770215 or mail me on pete@hookerblues to ensure you don’t miss this great gig.
