Gig: Rip Roaring Success – Appleton Thorn Village Hall – 15 Jan 2011

Our first event of this year on January 15th sees the first village hall appearance of Russ Williams new band, the Rip Roaring Success. In this line up he has ditched his double bass, passed it on to his sister and taken up the guitar to complement his vocal duties.
I saw  them bring the house down at the Bluegrass and Beyond festival last November and knew that they would be appreciated  the Village Hall regulars.

Their description of themselves mentions that due to a cruel twist of fate they live not in Texas, but in Widnes, and judging by the country style western swing they play, they could well be right!

I guarantee that there’s no finer way of banishing those post-Christmas / return to work  blues than listening to fine music in great surroundings, so don’t miss out!
