We are deeply saddened to report that Willie “Big Eyes” Smith passed away early the morning of September 16, 2011 at his home in Chicago from a stroke.

What sad news and as you say Ken, so soon after Pinetop. It will cast a real shadow over the King Biscuit this year. An amazing drummer during Muddy’s great years but in recent years fronting his own band on harmonica, his first instrument. Not many of the legends left I’m sorry to say – a great loss.
